Seth Brooks

Seth currently works as the Outdoor Recreation Program Coordinator at Golden Hills Resource Conservation and Development in Oakland, Iowa. A native of Fremont, Nebraska, he has a B.A. in Political Science from Creighton University and a B.S. in Secondary Education from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Seth worked as a political organizer before his passion for Spanish language and culture took him abroad. From 2013 until 2020, Seth lived in Spain where he worked as an English teacher in Galicia (check out his blog about Galician culture: o-faro.com). He has hiked the Camino de Santiago six times!

Upon returning to the United States, Seth worked as a program instructor at the North Cascades Institute in Washington and conservation technician at the Iain Nicolson Audubon Center at Rowe Sanctuary near Kearney, Nebraska. Additionally, Seth has written three hiking guidebooks published by Falcon Guides: Hiking Nebraska in 2023, Hiking Kansas in 2024, and Hiking Iowa in 2024. In his free time, Seth enjoys bird watching, photography, reading, and exploring the Loess Hills with his dog Jasper.

Coordinated project that installed a large mural in Glenwood, Iowa, and designed twenty interpretive panels for locations along the Loess Hills National Scenic Byway.
